On Friday of last week, my partner Lorraine & I took part in our first basking shark survey session on behalf of the Cornwall Wildlife Trust. We spent some 6.5 hours on the clifftop near Porthcurno watching for basking sharks. We saw three.
The Wildlife Trust is carrying out the survey each morning and afternoon/evening during June, July and August in order to track the numbers and movements of basking sharks off the Cornish coast. Lorraine & I will be taking part in some 8 further sessions. Hope it stays dry !!

I was born and bred in Trowbridge (Wiltshire) where I lived until some 6 years ago. We now live in a 150 year old cottage in the small ex-mining village of Carharrack which is between Redruth and Truro. Our nearest beach is Portreath (about 4 miles away). My occupation now is as a driving instructor/trainer in the area around where I live.
